We Have a defined Task “Making Disciples”

A friend and I were talking.  We were discussing our mission as followers of Christ.  He had a very complicated explanation of our mission.  I just said to him: “Hey! it is not that complicated, we just are called to make disciples everywhere we go”

We humans complicates things.  We build things, print things, we have meeting things, church things, office things and many other things.  However the relevant question that is “Are we making disciples?”

Two weeks ago we had a work meeting were representatives of the ministry of the Navigators in Latin-America met to discuss “How we can encourage each other to continue making disciples”

We can loose sight of our task by being busy “doing things” but are we helping people to grow in Christ?

It is not just something outside home, Am I helping my kids grow in Christ?  helping my wife? Am I growing in Christ?

Jesus simple said that making disciples is to teach others what we have learned from Him.  Have you learned something from Jesus? then you can make disciples. Take the initiative, be intentional with your kids, wife, people at work, class mates, anyone.  Sometimes just praying for them.  Last week I chose some class mates who are not believers and asked them: “How can I pray for you?” I sent a text message.  They were thrilled.  Sometimes it take very little to invest our lives in others.  Maybe you can start right now?  let me know if I encouraged you, you will encourage me.

Ministry at the School

I go to the School every day but Tuesday.  I’m there an average of 3 hours.  I was teaching them these last 2 weeks about being in the light and being in darkness.  I told them that we are slaves when we keep things in secret.  We are healed when we can open to somebody and speak out what’s in our hearts.

God was moving among the students and some people started talking.  One girl approached the director who is a Christian lady to talk about being abused by her previous step father. Another Girl approached me to confess that she was having weird feeling for an older woman.  Today another one came to say that she had anguished and didn’t know why.  In each case we can present Christ; I can listen to them and tell them that Christ is sufficient.

I am a President!

As many of you know, I’m the president of the Argentine Navigators.  We are few people here, however lately we have been having some conflicts that put my leadership to the test.  I believe our enemy is trying to destroy us.  I’m trusting however that God wants to build us up through trials and difficulties.  Would you pray for me and the team here? I highly appreciate it.

Fund Raising

I have to raise my support.  Some of you who receive this letter came to Argentina as students.  Some came as part of a work project.  In any case I believe our ministry has blessed you.  I wonder If God would make it possible that you can bless us with your financial contribution.

Some times people think that you have to give a lot.  I have people saying “I just can give 25 U$D” and I said “great!” It is not about money, it about trusting in God to give and to receive.

So I ask you who is reading: “If you are not contributing, can you pray and see if maybe God will allow you to start supporting our ministry”

To us 25 U$D can be translated in:

1. 7 gallons of fuel
2. Almost 2 months of house gas
3. Almost a month of telephone
4. Half week of food
5. One way trip to visit disciples 180 miles away

July 2010 Bonandini’s Update

Grace without performance

I was sad and angry at the poor performance of Argentina’s soccer team during the world cup. I was watching the game in disbelief of how bad the Argentine coach had planned the game strategy against Germany. I’m a soccer fan every four years J. I do not care about soccer the rest of the time.

One good thing of Argentina’s failure was how people in Argentina received the “losers” at the airport as they were coming from South Africa. The people of Argentina cheered them as “victorious.” It helped me to remind the Grace of God in Christ Jesus. We are all “losers” but in Christ we are more than “Victorious.”

All of a sudden I found one good things among many bad things in my country. I found that I felt proud of Argentina’s display of grace.

The Family

The family is doing well right now. However we had our little Daughter Lara sick two times. She had a throat infection. The problem was that she was vomiting badly for two days. We had to take her to the ER and put some medicine to stop the vomit. The amazing thing was that at one point I was so desperate in the ER that I started to send prayer request to people that can pray for her. After that I could see that she got better, even before she received any medicine.

She got sick again after 2 weeks but not as bad. I could give her the medicine right on the spot and that prevented the vomiting.

Claudia has something in her leg, right on the knee. It seems to be an infection, but we are not sure. It hurts a lot. So please pray for her.

Martin Jr. is big. He already has a shoe size 8, Unbelievable! The other day we were fighting for fun and he threw a kick at me and if I had not guard myself, I’m pretty sure he would have broken my ribs.

Natasha is doing well at school and is a great friend. All kids want to sit with her because she is so kind.

Ministry

One on One

I spend about 14 hours a week in personal discipleship, one on one style with 5 young guys. Their Names so you can pray are:

1. Paulo (pray for a revelation of his true identity in Christ)

2. Pablo (pray that God would show him his ministry and gifting)

3. Alejandro L. (pray for maturity in life and decisions)

4. Alejandro C. (pray for strengths in his temptations)

5. Marcelo (pray for a spiritual understanding of the gospel)

School

I have 6 different levels of high school students that I teach every week. God has been working in them through the different activities that I have lead them to do. Last week I had them watched the movie “Mom at sixteen” that deal with the drama of a teen girl who gets pregnant. They had to do a movie report and I could see that God did use the movie to make them think about sex and responsibility. That God is not capricious in asking from us certain things; He wants our good.

Argentine Navigators

I have a roe also as the president of the Argentine Navigators. Much of this work I enjoy. Sometimes though, I have to deal with conflict and sin. Sometimes I’m convinced that I do not fit the job. A month ago I thought that I had to quit. Satan gave me a blow with a situation involving a close friend that made me considering if I have any value as a leader. God who is rich in mercy help me to put things in perspective and taught me a lot. Thanks for those who prayed for me.

Couple Ministry

We finish our 2^nd couple Bible study based on the movie “Fireproof” It went very well. We had a non believer couple. He is the brother of a dear friend. He never had wanted to participate in anything Christian. He came and enjoyed it. He said at one point: “We have to keep doing this, because it is so good!” Claudia and I were very pleased with his comment :)

We finish the time with a renewal of marital vows. It was a very moving moment most of the time.

One thing we did this time is to include the children during the vows it was unbelievable how concentrated they were.

We believe in holistic spirituality - We nurture our souls and our bodies as well. :)

In my vows to Claudia I used a very old song by Steve Curtis Chapman that I had listened while in Russia and I said to myself: “One day I’ll sing this song to my future wife” Well… I didn’t sing it but read it to her:

You may want to read it to your wife or sing if you can :) I realize what the song says is impossible to do without Christ. The more I try to live in love in my own strength the more frustrated I become. In Ephesians 2:15 Paul says that Christ created a new man and in 4.24 says that we need to put on the new man. Jesus created a reality and we have to take ownership of it. I’m learning and I’m falling all the time to put on the new self created in Jesus. What about you? Do you have any understanding about putting on the “new you” created in Jesus that you might share with me?

Prayer needed Please!

Dear Friends,

I need prayer for a couple married a year ago.  He was a guy who lived at home some years ago and in whom I had invested for some time.  He left his wife and had an affaire with another woman.  Today 12 of April they are coming to talk.  I already talked to him and to her separately.  Both of them come today.  Please pray that God will open his darkened mind and that she would let God's Word into her heart.

Please pray for the students at the Christian High School that God would bring a revival into our midst.  Pray that a spirit of prayer and joy in the Lord would move across the students.

Thanks I'm going right now to talk to the wife while we wait for the husband.

From Argentina, Prayer Needed and Update

Hi there to all of you friends!

I have several things that I'd like to ask for support in prayer.  I'll keep it short so that maybe you can print it out and place this list in your Bible or in your refrigerator, I mean on it, otherwise it will be a cold prayer list 

1. I have started giving classes of Christian Orientation (that's the name) and I have the unique privilege of sharing Christ with almost 150 students of high school three time a week every week. 

PRAY for a revival in their hearts, I really would like God doing something similar to what happened in the movie "Facing the Giants" Do not watch it, do it! It is a good movie to watch with your kids.

2. I have a conference of one week with all the Navigators involved in Latin America.  Pray for safety and for my family that will be alone in the house.  Also that we can hear God's voice. 

3. We have been facing spiritual opposition.  The van that was fixed is not working well again, something related to what was done.  Took it back to the mechanic and still is not working well.  Bought a bike to move around  Today my wife told me that there is a leak under the sink in the main bathroom.  There are people coming this week for the conference and Henry and Wendy Clay come the other week.  So it is not the best time for this to happened.  So please pray that our enemy will be discourage by God's hand to mess with us.

4. Somehow I'm praying that God will be doing a kind of miracles regarding a future house for the family.  I'm praying what God says: "it not the children that provide for their parents, but the parents for their children" So I'm asking God to empower me to provide for my children.  I commit myself to give Him glory for it, so my children know that it was the hand of God.  So pray for a miracle!  they do happened and God is powerful to do it.

5. I have been under the cloud somehow lately. Worrying too much, giving into the sin of unbelief! feeling like the disciples on the boat facing the storm.  Pray that I can see into the unseen, knowing that God is in control of my life and family.

Update

Marisol asked yesterday some people from the service station nearby her home and they wrote down the license number of the car that crashed into Marisol's.

Pray that we can pass it on to the insurance.

Marisol Crashed car

Marisol ( an Argentinean navigator staff ) found his new car today crashed on the street.  Somebody crashed it during the night, a drunk or somebody asleep crashed into the back part of it and it will cost a lot to repair.  She was very discouraged (since she have not yet finished paying for it). The insurance won't covered it since she doesn't have an "all that could happen" insurance, if the guy does not report it, Marisol will have to pay for it from his own pocket.  So pray for her please!  Thanks!

Queridos Amigos,

Quiero compartir con ustedes que salimos de vacaciones desde el doming 24 hasta el 2 de Febrero.  Nos gustaria que pudieran orar por nosotros, vamos en micro a Córdoba y queremos llegar y regresar sin problemas.

Oren que pueda encontrarme con Dios y que pueda escuchar su voz.  La verdad es que necesito saber que Dios está en mi futuro preparando todo.  Pero se que si supiera lo que Dios va a hacer en mi futuro no necesitaría fe.  Entonces no oren que pueda saber, oren que pueda confiar en Él que todo lo puede.  Necesito experimentar su amor en mi corazón y así amarlo más.

Dejé la camioneta en el taller, por favor oren que no se aprovechen en el precio que me van a cobrar.  En serio oren por favor!

Dear Friends,

I want to share with you that we go out on vacations from the 24th of Jan. until the 2nd of Feb. Please pray for us, we go on a bus 500 miles NW away from Buenos Aires to a Baptist facility in Córdoba.  Please pray for safety on the trip.

Pray that I will have an encounter with God and that I can hear his voice.  The truth is that I need to know that God is working in our future, getting everything ready.  However If I known what God is preparing for our future, it would not be faith.  So do not pray that I'll know, pray that I'll trust Him.  I need to experience his love in my heart so I'll be able to love him more.

I leave the van in the workshop, please pray that the mechanic (Marcelo) will not rip me off!

Dear friends

Hi all out there!

Well, we are officially in 2010, who would think that we are 10 years away from Y2K and the end of the world? Now the end of the world is suppose to be in 2012 according to the Mayans, anyway...

I just want to say a short thing.

I have not forgotten writing about our van and the broken transmission.  It will be fixed during our vacations from the 23 of January and the 2nd of February.  Sorry it has taken so long, but it was a matter of strategy.  I had the money to fix it, that many of you so generously sent.

I promise to take picture, of the transmission to sent all of you.

Keep your eyes on the Lord, there are many voices out the claiming freedom and there will be many more, however only the voice of Jesus bring peace, healing and joy to our hearts.
